Dear National Federations,
Please find the official notice with regards to the updated IFMA Rules & Regulations. The amendments that have been made to the document have been made with the goal of achieving political correctness and compliance with international sport and IOC standard terminology. Those changes include the following:
1. Amendment to the referencing of divisions as follows:
a. “A Class” will now be referred to as “Elite Class”
b. “B Class” will now be referred to as “Competitive Class”
c. “Juniors” will now be referred to as “Youth”
2. All references to “boxer” has been changed to “athlete”
3. All references to “his” has been changed to “his/her”
In addition to the above amendments, “Rule 4: Dress Code” has the addition of 4.1.9 which addresses the regulation on head and body cover for athletes to comply with cultural understanding. As you know this rule was introduced on a 2-year trial basis in 2014 and was approved and voted on by the IFMA Executive Board and General Assembly in 2015 for full implementation.
The updated Rules & Regulations can be found on the IFMA website and a PDF version can be downloaded HERE.
